Engineer nabbed in hit-and-run case

Pune: Sleuths from the Mundhwa police station detection branch acted swiftly and nabbed a 35-year-old driver of an SUV who had fled after knocking down the assistant vice president of Kalyani Carpenter Steel, a subsidiary of the Kalyani Group, while he was on a morning walk on Sunday. 

The arrested accused has been identified as Vishal Vijay Pawar, a resident of Dombivali. Pawar is an engineer who worked in an IT company in Magarpatta City.

According to the police, the incident took place around 6.30 am opposite Zagde Park. The deceased Govind Kundalik Jadhav (60), a resident of Keshav Nagar in Mundhwa, was on a morning walk with his pet, when the speeding SUV hit him.
  
In-charge of Mundhwa police station, Senior Police Inspector Anil Patrudkar said, “The accused had fled after knocking down Jadhav. An FIR has been registered against the car driver, who is yet to be arrested, for offences under sections 279 (rash driving) and 304a (causing death due to negligence) of the Indian Penal Code. Our detection branch team traced him to Kalyan and nabbed him in the wee hours of Tuesday. He was brought to Pune and produced before a judicial magistrate court which granted him bail.”
