Encroachments feature prominently in PCB meet

Pune: The issue of encroachment in Pune Cantonment Board (PCB) areas was taken up prominently in the board meeting on Thursday. Brig Rajiv Sethi, PCB President, took a firm decision by directing the officials of health and revenue departments to eradicate the encroachments from Empress Garden to Wanawadi within three days.

Kiran Mantri, elected member of the Board, highlighted that the road, which connects Empress Garden to Wanawadi, is narrow and due to the encroachments next to it, there is a chance of accidents happening.

Kiran Mantri, elected member of the Board, highlighted that the road, which connects Empress Garden to Wanawadi, is narrow and due to the encroachments next to it, there is a chance of accidents happening. 

She said, “If any accident takes place due to the encroachment, the blame would come on the board for not acting against the illegal hawkers.” When Sethi asked the officials of health and revenue departments what is being done to eradicate the encroachments, they did not have any answer. Sethi finally said, “Now that the issue has been prolonged, we will first remove the encroachments from Empress Garden to Wanawadi and then look at the overall area under PCB jurisdiction step-by-step and make the cantonment encroachment free.”
