Pune: With a view to enhance dialogue between electricity consumers and to improve the efficiency of power distribution, ‘Electricity distribution coordination committees’ will now be formed at the municipal level.

Officials from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) said the government has given its approval for setting up these
committees.

“Electricity distribution is very important. If electricity distribution coordination committees are constituted within the corporation limits, the communication between MSEDCL and consumers will grow,” said officials
from MSEDCL.

The committees are expected to hold meetings once every three months. The discussions in the meetings can be conveyed to the administration through concerned officials.

The officials said the committees are to be formed by the municipal commissioner and the nomination of non-government members has to be approved by the district guardian minister.
