Elderly woman duped of chain worth Rs 62,000

Pune: A 65-year-old senior citizen was duped of her chain worth Rs 62,000 by a conman, on Monday, at Faraskhana. A case in this regard was registered at Faraskhana police station.

According to the complaint filed by the elderly woman, she was approached by a man while she was walking near Moti Chowk. The unidentified accused started a conversation with the woman and then lured her into his trap on the pretext of providing her a saree worth Rs 10,000.

According to the complaint filed by the elderly woman, she was approached by a man while she was walking near Moti Chowk. The unidentified accused started a conversation with the woman and then lured her into his trap on the pretext of providing her a saree worth Rs 10,000.

After conversing with the elderly woman for some time, the accused gained her confidence and then requested to see the design of her gold chain. However, when the woman handed over her chain to the trickster, he changed it using sleight of hand and returned a fake chain with two tiny stones wrapped inside a Rs 500 note. The elderly woman realised the fraud later and then reported the matter to the Faraskhana police.
