Elderly couple robbed of Rs. 1 lakh
Shivajinagar police station has registered an FIR against the driver and his accomplice
Pune: An elderly couple was robbed of Rs one lakh by two persons who had offered to drop them at Katraj from Shivajinagar early on Sunday morning. Based on a complaint from Tulshiram Wawalkar (59) of Ambegaon Budruk, Shivajinagar police station has registered an FIR against the driver and his accomplice for offences under sections 379 (theft) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.
According to the police, Wawalkar and his wife Shanta reached Sancheti Chowk, Shivajinagar from Beed at around 5.30 am in a bus on April 15. They were waiting for PMPML bus at the bus stop outside Bank of Maharashtra when the accused persons arrived in Tata Safari there.
“The driver asked me where we have to go and I told him Katraj, Ambegaon. The man sitting in the vehicle said that each passenger has to pay Rs 20. I agreed and we sat inside and handed over the bag to the man sitting at the back. I sat beside the driver and my wife sat behind me. After some distance, the driver stopped the vehicle saying he has to go back and asked us to get down there. After we got down, the man sitting at the back threw our bag through the window. Before I could pick up the bag, they had sped away and I found that Rs one lakh cash kept in the bag was missing,” Wawalkar stated in his complaint.
