At a press conference, MART President Babasaheb Barate said, “There are a lot of employment opportunities in the tourism sector, particularly in rural areas where agri-tourism is becoming popular. In Maharashtra, there are 354 agri-tourism centres and in 33 talukas, government organisations are working for agri-tourism.”

He said, “The awards will be presented to eight farmers selected from across the state. The norms on which the farmers have been selected are a natural way of agriculture, organic farming and those who have maintained environmental balance.

The awards will be presented by actor and director Makarand Anaspure along with founder president of MART, Sumitra Pawar.” “Tourists from urban areas enjoy agri-tourism. Farmers who opted for agri-tourism have increasing their income by 50 per cent,” Barate added.
