E-goods heist cracked, 4 held

Pune : Sleuths from Wakad police station have arrested four members of a gang which had allegedly stolen  electronic goods worth Rs 18.47 lakh from a godown in Tathawade last month. Though cops have seized the truck used to take away the goods, they are yet to recover the stolen goods.

The arrested accused have been identified as Chinak Sahebrao Chaudhary (36) of Navi Mumbai, Chandbabu Mohammadsorab Sah (28) of Mumbai, Abdul Asif Kaluhaji Khan (36) of Kedgaon in Ahmednagar, and Baban Rambachchan Yadav (44) of Vasaiphata in Palghar district. They are natives of Uttar Pradesh and had come together for the burglary.  

The incident had taken place between 8.30 pm on June 7 to 8 am on June 8. The theft came to light after the godown employees came to open it. Later the godown owner, Sarfaraz Nizamuddin Shaikh (40) lodged an FIR with Wakad police station. He runs an electronics shop in Camp. 

Police said that there was no security measures at the facility. The burglars had broken the locks of one of the five shutters. There was neither a central lock, CCTV cameras or guards. The burglars had decamped with goods like air-conditioners, washing machines and refrigerators from the godown. 
 
The four accused persons were arrested on Friday. Assistant police inspector D R Londhe is further investigating the case.
