DTE extends deadline for caste validity till August 14

Pune: In a respite to several students, who have been running from pillar to post for procuring a caste validity certificate, the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Mumbai, on Friday declared that the date for submitting the caste validity certificate has been extended till August 14.

Earlier, the last date for submission of the certificate was August 10.  The date has been extended for those candidates who are willing to seek admission to professional degree courses such as engineering, architecture, pharmacy, hotel management and catering technology and post graduation degree courses like MBA, MMS.

“The deadline has been extended for those who have furnished a receipt of application of caste validity certificate during the registration of admission in their respective courses. Now, these students have been given four days more to provide their certificates to their colleges,” said Abhay Wagh.

Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) has also notified that except for the above mentioned courses, the authority has not extended deadlines for any other course. It has also stated that after this extension of date, those who fail to submit their certificates to the college, will not get admission.

Until last year, students were required to furnish this certificate after the admission. However, the rules were changed by the State Admission Regulatory Authority from this year. As per the new rule, the caste validity certificate is a prerequisite for admission to the first year of respective courses.

Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) has also instructed institutions and colleges to accordingly update details of beneficiaries of caste validity certificate online and provide an acknowledgement receipt to students.
