Killing over argument on love affair

Pune: A 21-year-old youth was brutally murdered near Chandni Chowk on early Tuesday by a group of three men following a tiff related to an alleged love affair. The accused slashed the deceased’s neck with a broken beer bottle.  

The deceased, Akshay Jori, 21, was murdered by his three friends who were identified as Sagar Mestri, 29, Sushant Omble, 23 and Prashant Omble, 25, all residents of Kothrud. 

The deceased along with three accused had partied on the intervening night of Monday -Tuesday in a flat. The murder occurred while all of them were returning home. Tempers flared as Jori had informed Sushant’s girlfriend’s family about her affair. The trio assaulted him and then Sushant hit Zori with a broken beer bottle. The party was held at flat no 55 of Kalagram Housing Society near Chandni Chowk following a patch-up between Akshay and Sushant, soured after the above mentioned incident.  Jori was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival. 

The complaint regarding the murder was registered by the deceased’s father Balu Jori. 

According to the complaint, the deceased and Sushant were at loggerheads with each other, after the latter informed Sushant’s girlfriend’s family about their daughter’s affair. However, the issue was sorted out on Monday night post which Jori came to his house along with his friends identified as Ashish Pokle, Sushant Ambekar, Saket Shinde and the accused Sushant Omble. The deceased informed his family about his discord with Sushant and how it got sorted out. He informed that all of them were going for a party. 

At around 4.30 am, Balu Jori received a call from a kin about the attack.

Appasaheb Shevale, Police Inspector, Kothrud police station, said, “We have arrested all the three accused involved in the murder.” The accused have been remanded in police custody till July 13.
