Pune: A middle-aged woman was deboarded from a Delhi-bound AirAsia flight on Sunday.

The lady was drunk and had an argument with the cabin crew staff. The staff asked her to leave the aeroplane, said the source.

On Sunday, AirAsia Flight I5 729 from Pune to Delhi was to depart at 4.51 am from Pune airport, based at Lohegaon, and arrive in Delhi at 6.50 am. The flight was almost full at that time. The middle-aged woman got a boarding pass and boarded the flight with other passengers.

“The lady was drunk and was not able to even move. The woman asked one of the cabin crew staff to keep her luggage in the overhead cabin. When the staff got to know that the lady was drunk, they requested her not to fly. The lady ignored them and repeatedly asked them to keep her luggage in the overhead cabin. Later, the staff took her and sent her to the terminal building,” said a reliable source of the airport.

“The lady started arguing and shouting with the airline officials and the staff,” said the source.
When contacted, the airline spokesperson said that the matter is under investigation.

“AirAsia India would like to confirm that we’re cognizant of a situation involving a passenger being offloaded from a flight between Pune and New Delhi. The matter is currently being investigated,” said the spokesperson in a press statement.

This is not the first case reported at Pune airport. As per the officials, several drunk passengers arrive at the airport and when the airline requests them not to board, they start an argument with the airline official.
