To increase the number of new voters and verify existing voters, the Election Branch of the district administration held a meeting on Friday with heads of different cooperative housing societies.

Pune: To increase the number of new voters and verify existing voters, the Election Branch of the district administration held a meeting on Friday with heads of different cooperative housing societies.
 
More than 250 societies responded to the event. The election branch is also carrying out special election drive every Sunday of October with the Booth Level Officer (BLO) stationed in the respective polling booths for the convenience of citizens to enrol, delete or make corrections in the electoral rolls. District Deputy Election Officer Monika Singh Thakur said that, in all, 9,963 people responded to the special drive carried out on Sunday, including 7,877 first-time voters. 

“Housing societies should urge the voters to take advantage of the special drive, as there is only one Sunday left. Thereafter, the voters will have to visit the election offices for the purpose,” added Singh.
