Drainage problem in Kalepadal

Drainage problem in Kalepadal

Pune: Drainage problem and scarcity of water have become major issues for residents in Nehru Park, Kalepadal and Hadapsar. It has been almost a month and the concerned authorities have not yet visited the place.

There are already two drainage pipes but one more is inserted awkwardly, which is causing the blockage. The pipe is likely to crack if a heavy vehicle passes over it.

The electricity for the completion of the work is also borrowed from the residents of the locality.

Ramakant, a resident of the locality, said, "The waste that needs to pass through our restroom comes back to our home or onto the road. The drainage pipes are left open and no gap is given in between them. The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has just sanctioned the work but no one takes care of it."

The owner of a house located in the area, who did not want to be named, said, "I have started working on it, not waiting for the authorities to join the drainage pipes so that at least we can start using the washroom. Our children are also facing problems."

A daily wage labourer, who comes to work there, revealed that they work for a contractor named Kakate, but no deadline has been given to them to finish the work. When Sakal Times contacted Gyanneshwar Molak, Deputy Commissioner (Zone 4), he said, "We know that problems are being faced by the people. My team and I will be visiting the area on Monday. The issue will be solved as soon as possible."
