Doctor commits suicide by jumping off building

The deceased was identified as Indumati Dongre. Dongre, along with her husband, who is also a doctor, was running Gajanan Clinic on the ground floor of the building from where she jumped off at around 5.30 pm

Pune: A 40-year-old doctor committed suicide on Thursday evening by jumping off a four-storey building at Sukhsagar Nagar in Kondhwa. Acute depression was cited by the police as the reason behind the suicide.

The deceased was identified as Indumati Dongre. Dongre, along with her husband, who is also a doctor, was running Gajanan Clinic on the ground floor of the building from where she jumped off at around 5.30 pm.

She was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to her injuries. Police was informed about the incident by Shyam Dongre, her husband. According to Kondhwa police, the deceased was suffering from acute depression. On Thursday evening, she jumped off the terrace of her clinic building.

Milind Gaikwad, Police Inspector, Kondhwa Police station, said, “The deceased was psychologically disturbed since her college days and was under treatment. Unfortunately, in last eight days, her depression got worse and she was very disturbed. Her mother also came to take care of her and was staying with the couple. Her husband told us that she was not able to cope with the depression and ended her life on Thursday evening”.
