Director of Sainik Welfare Dept Jatkar suspended

The State government on Monday suspended Department of Sainik Welfare (DSW) Director Suhas Jatkar pending enquiry against him. Jatkar, who had been director since 2009, was suspended following orders from Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Pune: The State government on Monday suspended Department of Sainik Welfare (DSW) Director Suhas Jatkar pending enquiry against him. Jatkar, who had been director since 2009, was suspended following orders from Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. 

On Wednesday, Pune District Additional Collector Ramesh Kale will take over charge from Jatkar. 

Speaking to Sakal Times, Sambhaji Patil Nilangekar, Minister of Ex-Servicemen Welfare, said, “There have been several allegations against Jatkar including that of financial irregularities. Many veterans had complained to the government against him. A deputy secretary rank officer had conducted preliminary enquiry and submitted a report to the Principal Secretary. Accordingly, it was decided to suspend him and conduct the enquiry.” When contacted, Jatkar refused to comment.

The DSW of Maharashtra is the state-level organization. At present it is located opposite National War Memorial, Ghorpuri. The DSW acts as a link between the Kendriya Sainik Board, New Delhi, the State government and various Zilla Sainik Welfare Offices in the state, for welfare related work of the soldiers and their family members.
