Despite complaints, dumping of sewage continues in Hinjawadi

Sewage dumping at Hinjewadi area continues even after several efforts taken by residents to stop it by complaining to Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) and gram panchayat. Recently, sewage was dumped in broad daylight opposite Pawar Public School at Hinjawadi Phase 3.

Pune: Sewage dumping at Hinjewadi area continues even after several efforts taken by residents to stop it by complaining to Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) and gram panchayat. Recently, sewage was dumped in broad daylight opposite Pawar Public School at Hinjawadi Phase 3.

A resident of Megapolis and an IT professional Bhavesh Karekar saw the vehicle which was dumping garbage opposite Pawar Public School. He said, “While driving from the Hinjawadi Phase 3 road I saw a garbage truck that was being taken behind Pawar Public School. I followed the truck and asked the driver whose sewage waste it is, the driver did not reply and just dumped the sewage waste and left without any specific answers.”

Karekar, said, “The sewage waste is being dumped just in the open plot behind the school without anyone’s knowledge. The governing body is doing nothing but just keep ignoring our calls and grievances. Is this what is being left behind for our future generation?”

When contacted gram panchayat, MIDC, Nilesh Modhave, who is also the executive engineer,  said he was not aware of the incident.

Bharat Patil, Gram Vikas Adhikari of Maan village said that they are still investigating on who is dumping garbage and sewage waste in open land. 

Patil said, “We lack in manpower and these dumping and burning is taking place at any time of the day, for which we cannot be there every time. But still, we are finding out the solutions because even we are facing the effects of garbage burning and dumping.”
