Def authorities agree to give land

PIMPRI: The defence authorities have agreed to hand over the required space for the bridge, which is being constructed to connect Bopkhel to Khadki for the residents of Bopkhel village.

The Department of Defence has asked an amount of Rs 25.81 crore for this purpose. The defence authorities have sent a letter to the PCMC Commissioner for an alternative space against this space adjoining defence land in the city.

Bopkhel residents currently have to travel 10-15 km extra to reach Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad. Later, the civic body decided to construct a permanent bridge on Mula river, connecting the alternate road leading to Khadki.

Provision has been made in the budget for the same.

BJP’s city president and MLA Laxman Jagtap followed up this issue to the Centre. The issue was followed up by three successive defence minister, which include Arun Jaitley, Manohar Parrikar and Nirmala Sitharaman.
