Pune: Heavy rains have led the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) to extend the deadline of admission for diploma courses in the State, declared DTE, Mumbai, on Saturday.
The deadline for online registration post SSC diploma course in engineering has been revised from July 16 to July 20 now. For online registration post HSC diploma in pharmacy, surface coating technology and hotel management and catering technology (HMCT), the deadline has been extended from July 17 to July 19.
“Due to heavy rains in Mumbai and Konkan, several students were unable to complete their admission process. Therefore, DTE decided to extend the dates,” said Rajendra Gaikwad, Assistant Joint Director of DTE, Pune region.
Earlier, students (reservation category) were trying to procure caste validity certificate, which is mandatory as per ARA. Hence, admissions of many students got delayed. Now, they get some time to complete their procedures,” added Gaikwad.
The State government had recently issued a notification directing DTE to undertake all diploma course admissions wherein the candidates of diploma course do not require to furnish caste validity certificates.
