Pune: RTI activist Vijay Kumbhar highlighted various aspects of law and Supreme Court’s judgement on protecting garden and playground reservation to protect the garden area in Baner-Balewadi sector 1.

While interacting in a press conference which was organised by Baner-Balewadi Udyan Arakshan Bachao Kruti Samiti on Tuesday, Kumbhar said, “In the Supreme Court judgement, it was said that the reserved area of a garden cannot be de-reserved unless and until there is an urgent need for it. The de-reservation of Baner-Balewadi sector 1 which will be carried out to benefit the builder lobby is not necessary at all.”

Supporting the claim, Vaishali Patkar, a member of the samiti said, “All  environment lovers and concerned citizens will confront the civic body on why they are destroying the environment by de-reserving the garden plot area. A signature drive will be held on August 5 for the same.”
