Pune: On the day when Anupam Kher took charge as the chairman of FTII society, third semester students received an email stating that ‘their presence is not required in the campus during third semester'.
The issue started when students decided to boycott the scheduled Dialogue film exercise of 2016 batch. “The administration changed the guidelines and it was not possible to complete the film according to new guidelines. So we all sent a set of demands which was not accepted by the administration and we decided to boycott the exercise after which this notice was issued. Till now two teams ie a total of 10 students have got the email about our suspension from the third semester. One by one, they are sending it to all students who signed the letter of demands and boycott of the pre-production meeting. More than 40 students had signed this letter,” said a student.
The notice issued said, ‘ This is to inform you that the institute has taken serious note of the letter signed by you conveying your boycott of the scheduled Dialogue film exercise of 2016 batch. Please note that you were sufficiently advised to undertake the project but still you chose not to. It is being clearly emphasized here that if you fail to adhere to the declared schedule, including the production conference date then under no circumstances, will you be given another opportunity to undertake this exercise in future. Also since you are not undertaking the dialogue exercise, and boycotting it, your presence is no longer required in the campus during this third semester.'
The notice further states that the students will have to vacate their hostel rooms within specified time in case of non attendance in the conference. The students can return in the 4th semester subject to them clearing the third semester.
Bhupendra Kainthola, director FTII said, “We have issued letter only to five students as they have boycotted the Scheduled Dialogue film exercise which was a part of the course and is required to be completed.”
