D Litt for Pratap Pawar from Tilak Vidyapeeth

Pune: Chairman of Sakal Group Pratap Pawar will be awarded ‘D Litt’ degree by Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth Deemed University (TMV) on the 19th convocation ceremony of the university on March 24. The announcement was made by Vice-chancellor of the university Dipak Tilak on Monday. 

Pawar is being awarded the degree for his outstanding contribution in the field of business, media and social service. He has held prestigious positions in the field of business and has also been on the board of directors of different business organisations.

Pawar is being awarded the degree for his outstanding contribution in the field of business, media and social service. He has held prestigious positions in the field of business and has also been on the board of directors of different business organisations. 

He was the former president of the Mahratta Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture. He was awarded Padma Shri by the Government of India for his contribution to the industry.

He was also the President of Indian Language Newspapers Association, member of press council, was appointed to the Board of Directors of the World Association of Newspapers (WAN). 

He has contributed immensely to Students Welfare Association, School for Blind, Pune Balkalyan Sanstha and other social organisations. He has also worked at the Senate of Savitribai Phule Pune University. 

The degree has been awarded by the university since 1993. In the past, the degree has been awarded to former union agriculture minister Sharad Pawar, Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, scientists Anil Kakodkar, Raghunath Mashelkar, Jayant Narlikar, Vasant Gowarikar, SB Majumdar of Symbiosis University, Yogacharya BK Iyengar, vocalist Kishori Amonkar and other 
dignitaries.
