Pune: Fliers will soon get to experience Pune's rich cultural heritage at an art and crafts outlet at Pune airport. A food joint is also being planned.

To bring out the 'Feel Pune' factor, the local art store is aimed at attracting passengers at the airport, informed the airport official. It will be set up in about two months.

"We first need to locate appropriate space to accommodate these stalls. They cannot be opened just anywhere. The stalls can be put up inside (near departure and arrival) the terminal building. These shops will sell local handicrafts. These items will surely attract people coming from different parts of the country and even abroad," said Ajay Kumar, Airport Director.

"The decision has been taken during the recently held Pune airport advisory committee meeting. It has been decided that to promote local art and craft, some outlets, retail outlets should be started inside the airport. We want to recast the 'Feel Pune' factor," he added further.

Apart from this, the airport authority has also decided to open food and beverage outlets inside and outside the airport terminal building. These outlets will serve only Pune food to their customers. "The airport has only one restaurant inside the terminal building and one is outside of the arrival gate. With the new outlet, passengers have more than one choice," said an official of Pune airport.
