Crime Branch nabs six goons, solves 38 cases

PUNE: Crime Branch Unit 5 sleuths arrested six criminals and solved 38 robberies and dacoity cases and recovered booty worth over Rs 17 lakh. Acting on a tip-off received by policemen Amzad Pathan and Ankush Jogdande, a team nabbed a gang led by Hrishikesh alias Hukya Shrikant Gade (22) of Upper Indiranagar. They were caught while planning a robbery at a petrol pump near Khade Machine Chowk on January 31. He wanted money to impress his girlfriend.

Additional CP (Crime) Jyotipriya Singh, DCP Shirish Sardeshpande, ACP (Crime 1) Sameer Shaikh, ACP (Crime 2) Bhanupratap Barge supervised the investigation team. The probe team was led by Senior Police Inspector Datta Chavan, Assistant Police Inspectors Bhalchandra Dhawle and Santosh Tasgaonkar.
