Court extends police custody of DSK’s son
Shirish was arrested on June 25 after he surrendered before the court
Pune: A special court on Monday remanded builder DS Kulkarni’s son Shirish Kulkarni to three days police custody till July 5. Kulkarni was produced before the court by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) officials.
Special Public Prosecutor Pravin Chavan submitted to the court that the depositors’ money to Shirish Kulkarni’s company was transferred from accused Hemanti Kulkarni’s account.
Chavan argued that police custody is required to investigate how mortgaged land was allotted as a plot to the depositors illegally in contravention of the partnership rules. Defence lawyer Sushil Kumar Pise said that forensic audit report came in March, but police want custody for the same reason.
Shirish was arrested on June 25 after he surrendered before the court. He was remanded to police custody till July 2 and on Monday it was further extended.
According to police, he had played a key role in the conspiracy in the Rs 2,043 crore fraud by DSK group. The prosecution has alleged that Rs 167 crore was found in his bank accounts.

The court passed an order on the interim bail application of Sunil Ghatpande, DSKDL’s chartered accountant, and Rajiv Newaskar, chief engineer of the company on July 5.
