Corporator’s husband held for abusing police officials

As per Nigdi police, the accused, Anil alias Bapu Abhiman Gholap, abused Head Constable Nagendra Bansode and other police officials for refusing to take a complaint from a person who is a resident of his wife’s ward.

Pune: The 40-year-old husband of a corporator was arrested by the Nigdi police for allegedly abusing police officials and creating ruckus at a police station on Monday.

As per Nigdi police, the accused, Anil alias Bapu Abhiman Gholap, a resident of Indrayaninagar in Nigdi, reached Yamunanagar police chowki at 12.10 am and started abusing Head Constable Nagendra Bansode and other police officials for refusing to take a complaint from a person who is a resident of his wife’s ward.

The police arrested Gholap under charges of section 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 332 (Voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty) and other sections of the IPC. Assistant Police Inspector Sujit Pawar is investigating the case.

Anil’s wife Kamal Gholap said, “A boy named Deepak Rite was assaulted by some youths on Sunday night and they called us for help after the police did not take their complaint. As it was late night, I sent my husband to the police station to lodge a complaint on behalf of Rite. My husband was abused by police officials, which led to the chaos.” Kamal is corporator of ward number 13 in Nigdi.
