There have been repeated complaints that the PMC building sees a large number of visitors and dignitaries each day who in turn park their vehicles in a haphazard manner in the surroundings.

Pune: The Pune traffic police took action against unruly and errant vehicle owners whose vehicles were parked near the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) building on Friday as there have been complaints that the unruly parking makes the traffic flow in the area difficult, especially considering that the area also has one of the busiest bus stops in the city. There have been repeated complaints that the PMC building sees a large number of visitors and dignitaries each day who in turn park their vehicles in a haphazard manner in the surroundings. The street right in front of the building sees a large number of vehicles parked right in the middle, making the transit of buses a task and slowing down the traffic.

As the traffic police began recording number plates for an e-challan, owners of the vehicles rushed to move their vehicles and the street was emptied in minutes. Even though the PMC has claimed arrangement of parking for common citizens as well as elected representatives, the area is prone to haphazardous parking. The police have said that if the area sees such parking again, they will put jammers on the vehicles and also issue a challan.
