Pune: Officials of Pimpri and Chinchwad police arrested two persons involved in the murder of Aditya Jaind (20), the son of a woman head constable attached to Nigdi police station.
The arrested accused have been identified as Akshay Ashok More (25) and Nilesh Gaikwad (24). The police have also booked Dheeraj Shinde in the case. Senior Police Inspector Vitthal Kudbe of Chinchwad police said the arrested accused were produced in the court on Tuesday and sent to police custody till September 16.
The police said that on Monday, a female classmate of Aditya was not responding to his phone call and so Aditya went to her home and saw Akshay already present there. Akshay was angry to see Aditya and so he, along with his friends Nilesh and Dheeraj, took him in a vehicle and started assaulting him with a cricket bat. Aditya later succumbed to his injuries.
The accused had taken Aditya to a hospital in MIDC Bhosari, but he could not survive. Following this, the accused fled. Doctors at the hospital informed the MIDC Bhosari police. SPI Bhimrao Shingade of MIDC Bhosari police then informed Pimpri police about the incident. During investigation, the police found that Akshay is friendly with the girl since the past three years. “We are trying to get a detailed statement from the girl to understand the situation better,” a police official said.
The accused had taken Aditya to Bhosari, Nigdi and other areas on Monday and hence, PI Vinayak Salunkhe conducted a panchnama along with the accused at crime spots where Aditya was assaulted. The police are in the process of seizing the weapons used by the accused.
