Cop nabbed by ACB for demanding bribe

Pune: A police head constable, identified as Rajendra Mirge (50), attached to the local crime branch of Pune rural police, was arrested by officials of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of the Pune unit for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 17,000 from a complainant on Saturday.

According to ACB officials, Mirge demanded Rs 17,000 from the complainant, who runs a hotel in Pune district, so as to not take action against him, following which the complainant lodged a complaint with ACB.

According to ACB officials, Mirge demanded Rs 17,000 from the complainant, who runs a hotel in Pune district, so as to not take action against him, following which the complainant lodged a complaint with ACB.

On Saturday, when Mirge had reached to collect the bribe amount, he but found something suspicious at the scene and so was preparing to leave from the place where the trap was laid. However, he was nabbed by ACB officials before he could flee. A case against Mirge has been lodged at MIDC Ranjangaon police station.
