A 24-year-old police constable has been arrested for allegedly raping a girl on the pretext of marriage.

Pune: A 24-year-old police constable has been arrested for allegedly raping a girl on the pretext of marriage.

The constable has been identified as Krishna Phule, who was posted at Police headquarters in Shivajinagar.

According to the information provided by Bharati Vidyapeeth police, Phule alleged of befriended the victim and then established sexual relations with her on the pretext of marriage. He came in contact with the 22-year-old complainant in May 2017, he won her confidence and allegedly raped her over the period of one year. 

Police have registered a case under section 376 (rape) of Indian Penal Code.
