Constable assaulted inside police chowki

In a shocking incident, a police constable at Meethganj police chowki under the jurisdiction of Khadak police station, was assaulted inside the police chowki. The policeman has sustained a fracture in his right hand.

Pune: In a shocking incident, a police constable at Meethganj police chowki under the jurisdiction of Khadak police station, was assaulted inside the police chowki. The policeman has sustained a fracture in his right hand.

The police have arrested the accused, Suresh Ahuji (41), a native of Nepal, who is currently residing in Bhawani Peth. The accused assaulted constable SN Lohamkar when he tried to calm down four miscreants, who were creating a nuisance outside Meethganj police chowki.

Umaji Rathod, Police Sub Inspector, Khadak police station, said, “The constable brought the four miscreants inside the police chowki and asked them to sit there. A few minutes later, Ahuji, who worked as a security supervisor at a construction site, came inside and questioned the constable regarding the detention of the four miscreants. However, when the constable told him that they were creating a nuisance in the area, he got into an argument with the constable and later assaulted him.”

The police have registered a case under sections 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 333 (Voluntarily causing grievous hurt to deter public servant from his duty) and others of the IPC.
