Congress and BJP start poll campaign specially for women

Pune:  The BJP and Congress Party have activated their women’s cells against the background of forthcoming Lok Sabha polls. The BJP has started ‘Kamal ki Shakti’ campaign to connect with women across the state and the Congress Party has organised ‘Sitare (star)’ orator training programme for women in Pune district to reach out to women voters in the State. 

The Congress will conduct one-day training programme for women who will take part in the election campaign of Congress Party and criticise Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government’s policies. It has been organised in Bhor area in Pune district. Delhi-based senior women Congress leaders will address women workers in the programme.

Sangita Tiwari, Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee Mahila Secretary, said, “All India Congress Committee Mahila President Sushmita Dev has taken an initiative and started ‘Sitare’ (star) campaign for women across the country. The purpose is to groom women orators who can take part in Congress Party’s election campaign across the country. This orator will approach women and tell them about Congress agenda and speak ‘truth’ about BJP and their false promises.”

“The training programmes will be conducted in different regions of state such as Nagpur, Nashik, Vidarbha, Mumbai etc. A committee will select best five orators and send them to different parts of the state. At present, 110 party workers have registered for the programme,” she added. 

Meanwhile, Vijaya Rahatkar, National President, BJP Mahila Morcha and Chairperson and Maharashtra State Commission for Women has started ‘Kamal Shakti’ campaign for women in the country.
 
Under the Kamal Shakti campaign, BJP Mahila Morcha members will educate people about BJP government’s work in local self government institutions, Non-governmental organisations (NGOs), women’s self-help groups etc.
 
On Wednesday, Rahatkar addressed BJP Mahila Morcha members about the Kamal Shakti campaign. She said that members should speak about Pradhanmantri Awas Yojana, health schemes, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Gas scheme etc. The campaign will start from February 11 across the country and end on March 8.
