Cong to include people’s suggestions in manifesto

Pune: For the first time, the Congress has decided to consider ‘Aam Aadmi’s’ opinion for making party’s manifesto for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. Party will take suggestions from people across the State while making a manifesto for Maharashtra. Former chief minister Prithviraj Chavan is heading the Drafting Committee which will make a manifesto for the State. 

Congress President Rahul Gandhi has already announced to include people’s opinion in the party’s manifesto at the national level. On the same line, Maharashtra State Congress Committee has decided to implement same in State while making a poll manifesto. 

Anant Gadgil, a senior leader and one of the members of Drafting Committee, said, “We are for the first time considering people’s opinion and suggestions while making the poll manifesto. Suggestions are invited through emails, letters etc. We have decided to focus on urbanisation, social engineering, agriculture and education sectors which will be included in the manifesto.” 

Chavan has decided to form five sub-committees for the manifesto. Senior Congress leaders Anant Gadgil, Sachin Sawant, Shobha Bachhav, Ratnakar Mahajan, Pratik Patil, Suresh Shetti, Bhalchandra Mungekar are the members of the committee. 

At the national level, Congress already launched a dedicated website to take suggestions from the public to prepare the party’s manifesto for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections under the theme ‘Jan Aawaz’ (people’s voice).
 
The process of consultation started on October 1, 2018. There are more than 20 subjects that would be taken care of including agriculture, economy, industry and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME). 

The website has the option for 16 languages and also a dedicated WhatsApp number to receive suggestions.
