Complainant in rape case alleges acid attack threat

Pune: The 40-year-old woman who lodged a rape complaint against National Youth Congress leader Rohit Tilak has now alleged that she was threatened with an acid attack if she does not take back her complaint by two unidentified persons.

The incident took place on Monday after which the complainant approached the Vishrambaug police station and lodged  a complaint against the two unidentified persons. Rohit Tilak has received interim anticipatory bail till July 28 in the case.

In her complaint, the woman said she was in a car with a friend when two persons on a motorcyle stopped near the car. “The pillion rider was carrying a bottle containing a yellow colored liquid. The pillion rider warned me of consequences if I do not take back the complaint against Tilak,” the complaint stated.

Following the incident, advocate Tosif Shaikh, who is representing the complainant, has written a letter to Commissioner of Police Rashmi Shukla to provide police protection to the complainant till the chargesheet is filed 
against Tilak.
