CoEP hosts EAD 2017

Pune: The College of Engineering, Pune (CoEP), hosted the Entrepreneurship Awareness Drive (EAD) 2017, an initiative by the Entrepreneurship Cell of the IIT-Kharagpur, at the main auditorium on the CoEP campus on Tuesday.

The EAD has covered around 24 cities in 24 days across the country so far. Around 30,000 students from 23 cities had participated in the drive last year.

It consisted of a series of lectures and workshops conducted by stalwarts from the field, which enlightened the students over the creation and journey of entrepreneurs and shared success stories of achievers. Shripal Gandhi, Founder and CEO of Swipe India; Ashish Dalia, CEO of I Knowledge Factory Pvt Ltd and Rohit Lalwani, Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of Tradexs, were present.

Speaking about the new era of entrepreneurs, Gandhi said, “Entrepreneurs are the ones who are going to lead India in the future. Tremendous efforts are being made by the government and educational institutions to set up entrepreneur-friendly infrastructure while investments are certainly a positive sign for young aspirants.”

Interacting with the students of the CoEP over the establishment of start-ups, Lalwani said, “More than creating sustainable companies, start-ups or entrepreneurs are concentrating on raising funds. One should not come up with a start-up because they have funds to invest but to identify the necessity of the existence of the company.”

“Along with success stories, institutions should also highlight failures. This gives them an idea of difficulties faced in the journey of making entrepreneurs. Many are unaware about hardships in this process. Start-ups demand compromises, struggle, physical and mental investment,” said Dalia.
