The Law Committee of PCMC has passed a resolution affecting the promotion of Salve in place of Dr Roy as chief medical officer. The issue was pending before the general body on Wednesday. But since it was adjourned for another month, the decision will be taken after a month.

PUNE: The Chairperson of Law Committee of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), Sharada Sonavane, lashed out at Chief Medical and Health Officer of PCMC Dr Anil Roy and said that it seems that the officer has lost his mental balance. Dr Roy recently sent a letter to Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar and levelled corruption charges against decision makers at the time of giving promotion to another officer in the health department in his place.

Meanwhile, Dr Roy has approached the Mumbai High Court and got a stay order till September 21 on his demotion order, demoting him from the post of chief medical and health officer. The Law Committee of PCMC has passed a resolution affecting the promotion of Salve in place of Dr Roy as chief medical officer. The issue was pending before the general body on Wednesday. But since it was adjourned for another month, the decision will be taken after a month.

The Law Committee claimed to have taken a decision following the State government asking it to review the decision in light of a complaint filed by

Dr Pavan Salve with it. The PCMC had promoted Dr Roy four years ago. However, Dr Salve had claimed a stake on the post.

The longtime rivalry between officials of health department took an ugly turn when Chief Medical officer Dr Roy has levelled allegations of corruption against decision makers in PCMC. He has also sought voluntary retirement scheme (VRS) from PCMC’s service. Already, the rivalry among the doctors has caused a great damage to the healthcare service of PCMC. Owing to this, eight prominent specialist doctors from PCMC run Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital have opted for VRS.

Law Committee Chairperson Sharada Sonavane said, “The decision has been taken on merit and as per the State government’s directives. The allegation of Dr Roy is a result of his frustration and an indication of his disturbed mental condition. He has made the allegations in general. If he mentions my name, then I will file a defamation case against him.”
