Civic chief transfers two officers for delaying work
It was learnt that the two officials purposely delayed the decision on the applications for the transferable development rights (TDRs).
Pimpri: In a first-of-its-kind action, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar has transferred two officers from the Town Planning Department for delaying work of citizens. He had issued a prior warning to these officials for failing to perform their duties on time.
After taking charge as the civic chief, Hardikar had warned officials that the Right to Services Act would be strictly implemented and appropriate action would be taken against errant officials.
It was learnt that the two officials purposely delayed the decision on the applications for the transferable development rights (TDRs). The two deputy engineers were warned by Hardikar and transferred from Town Planning Department to the Water Supply Department.
Since the Town Planning Department is dealing with the development plan (DP) of the city, the department has become most sought-after department by officials due to TDRs.
It was learnt that rampant corruption takes place in this department. During the tenure of Rajiv Jadhav as municipal commissioner, two staffers from the department were trapped by the ACB.
Contractors, builders and their agents used to visit this department after office hours. Hardikar, after taking charge as the municipal commissioner, has stopped this practice. Following the civic chief’s circular, the department is closed on time.
A citizen from Ravet had applied for TDR with the Town Planning Department. Since this plot doesn’t have a 9 metre wide road, TDR was not applicable to the plot.
So, the officials concerned should have rejected the application immediately. However, Deputy Engineer Sunil Belgaokar and Sanjay Tupsakhare did not decide on the application for a long time.
After coming to know about this, the Director of the Town Planning Department issued a show-cause notice to these officers. Since their clarification was not found satisfactory, they were transferred to the Water Supply Department.
