Pune: The Standing Committee has agreed to release funds to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) of extension of Swargate to Katraj metro route. Now, the PMC will release Rs 76 lakh to MahaMetro to prepare the DPR. The decision regarding the same was taken during the Standing Committing meeting held on Tuesday.
Yogesh Mulik, Chairman of the Standing Committee said, “We have agreed to give money for preparing DPR of Swargate to Katraj Metro route. On the basis of demands raised by local representatives and people, the district guardian minister had pushed to extend Pimpri-Chinchwad to Swargate Metro route up to Katraj. It was decided that MahaMetro will prepare DPR of the route. So, we have sanctioned Rs 76 lakh for preparing the DPR.”
The Union government had sanctioned Swargate to Pimpri-Chinchwad route on December 7, 2016. The Central government and State government had formed MahaMetro on December 23, 2016. Now, MahaMetro is implementing Pune and Nagpur Metro projects.
Mahametro has undertaken work of DPR of Katraj extension. The work of preparing the DPR has been awarded to Systra-Aecom-Egis Rail-Rites company.
PMC nod to preserve Omkareshwar temple
Meanwhile, the PMC has given permission to beautify, conserve and preserve Peshwa era Omkareshwar temple. The temple is a part of the heritage list prepared by the PMC. Now, District Planning and Development Committee (DPDC) will spend Rs 60 lakh for restoration and preservation work of the temple. The temple was built in 1740.
