Civic body begins work of drafting DP of merged villages

The corporation allotted funds for development of basic infrastructure in these villages. Now, the PMC has undertaken the work of drafting the DP of the villages.

PUNE: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has begun the work of drafting the proposed Development Plan (DP) of newly merged 11 villages. This was declared on Monday.

Last year, the State government took the decision to merge 11 villages with the PMC. After that, the corporation completed the procedure of merger and they assigned an official for taking care of development of villages. The corporation allotted funds for development of basic infrastructure in these villages. Now, the PMC has undertaken the work of drafting the DP of the villages. On Monday, they published a public notice in newspapers and appealed to people to submit their suggestions and objections on the boundaries framed by the PMC for DP.

While speaking to Sakal Times, Rajendra Raut, Superintendent Engineer of Development and Construction Department of the PMC said, “We have started working on the DP from today. We have released a map of 11 merged villages and made available for people to view and register their suggestions on boundaries of villages.”

Meanwhile, PMC formed a special team under the supervision of Rajendra Raut to make the proposed DP of these villages. It adds area of 80.7 sq km and a population of 2.78 lakh in Pune. The PMC will require Rs 2,000 crore to undertake development of these fringe areas.
