Pune: Officials of the city as well as Pune rural police have formed police teams to crack the case of a 33-year-old employee of a multinational company who was molested by two unidentified persons on Nande-Chande Road on Wednesday. The woman who hails from Chennai, and currently staying in Baner, chose to use the Nande-Chande Road as she works in Hinjewadi Phase III. After she crossed the Mula river, it started raining and she stopped her scooter to wear her raincoat near a tree. It was then when the molesters struck.
As per the molestation case filed by the complainant at Paud police station, she was groped and dragged by the two accused who had come in a tempo. The accused fled in the tempo after the woman raised an alarm. A police official from the Hinjawadi police station said that senior police officials are monitoring the probe in the case.
Additional Superintendent of Police Tejaswini Satpute said that the Paud police are working hard to crack the case. “We are collecting details of all Tempo Travellers and also trying to collect information from nearby areas. As the woman is in severe trauma, we are yet to get all details in the case,” an official from the Hinjewadi police said.
When Sakal Times reporters visited the spot, it was found that a CCTV camera is installed at Bank of Maharashtra’s Sus Road branch and other is in Sus near Pune Banglore highway. Similarly, there are around 150 homes in the area of the crime spot which is connected to Lavasa, Tamhini, Paud, Pirangut, Lavale, Sus, Nande, Chande, Hinjewadi, Ghotawade and other areas. The Nande-Chande Road stretch is used by thousands of employees working in Hinjawadi Phase III information technology park and hence, safety on the stretch is a prime concern for employees.
