Pune: The Pune city experienced heavy rainfall on Thursday afternoon. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) noted that many areas across the city, Aundh, Shivajinagar, Pimpri, Chinchwad, Wakad, Hinjewadi, Sangvi, Khadki and Model Colony, experienced a downpour and 3 millimeter rainfall was recorded in Pune on Thursday.  

Officials at IMD also said that conditions are likely to become favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon into some more parts of Gujarat region, central Maharashtra, remaining parts of Marathwada, some parts of Vidarbha, some more parts of Chhattisgarh, Odisha, remaining parts of West Bengal and some parts of Jharkhand and Bihar after three days.

Heavy rain is likely at isolated places at Konkan from June 16. A thunderstorm accompanied by a lightning is very likely at isolated places in Marathwada and central Maharashtra on June 16. Heavy rain is very likely at isolated places at Vidarbha on June 16, June 17 and June 19 according to IMD.

IMD also forecast that rain is likely at most places over the west coast and northeastern states, at many places over east and adjoining central India, at a few places over northwest and peninsular India.
Across the country, thunderstorms also occurred at a few places on Thursday over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Maharashtra, Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
