Pune: City-based OYE (Open Your Eyes) Foundation entered the Guinness World Records for creating two records on a single day that is on Sunday.
The first record was created by 1,956 women who painted their nails within six minutes, beating the previous record of 1,328 women which took place in 2016.
The second record was more regarding the awareness about breast cancer and saw the participation of 2,000 women of which only 1,919 could enter the record which was the largest female participation for a health awareness programme.
In the 40-minute lecture on breast cancer, if any women fell asleep or looked distracted, she was disqualified from entering the record.
Lusia Sinigagliyisi, Officer from Guinness World Records, UK handed over the certificates for both records to OYE Foundation. “I take immense pleasure to record this wonderful initiative in the book. Breast cancer awareness is the need of the hour. After this record, Guinness would happily participate and promote breast cancer awareness in every corner of the world.”
Simran Jethwani, Founder and Chairman of OYE Foundation said, “We feel very happy that we created two Guinness World Records, and specially one on breast cancer awareness. In the lecture, many things were discussed like myths and facts about breast cancer, guidelines on early detection of the disease, understanding the causes, symptoms, risk factors and treatment options for breast cancer.
The awareness lecture was delivered by Dr Chaitanyanand Koppikar from Orchids Breast Health. The programme was organised in association with Prashanti Cancer Care Mission and Orchids Breast Health.
Padmashree Lila F Poonawalla, Founder of Lila Poonawalla Foundation, Janki B Malhotra, philanthropist of Weikfield Group of Industries, Reshma P Saraf, designer and owner of Melody Makers, Latika Sakla, Builder & Promoter in Raviraj Group of Companies, Shweta Chavan Patil, Trustee of Dr DY Patil Education Group were also present in the session as lecturers of breast cancer awareness.
