City housing society sets a new eco-friendly trend

The residents of Guruprasad Co-operative Housing Society Ltd are using technology to improve communication among their members. The mobile-based application called to facilitate the communications between members and the managing committee.

Pune: The residents of Guruprasad Co-operative Housing Society Ltd are using technology to improve communication among their members. The mobile-based application called to facilitate the communications between members and the managing committee. The residents have shown the way on how adaption of green energy can reduce the expenditure on the electricity bill. The society is located near Bund Garden Road. The residents had installed the 10 KWP solar photovoltaic electric energy system that generates annual solar energy of 16,000 KWH. This solar energy system has helped residents reduce their monthly electricity bill by Rs 35,000. The residents said that the society used to pay electricity bill of Rs 50,000. The solar energy system used at the society has been operational since November 30, 2016.

The residents are actively implementing a composting system which is being used for the society’s gardens. The residents use water supplied by the Pune Municipal Corporation for drinking, whereas, the 
society members use borewell water for gardening and washing vehicles.
