CISCE to prepare Std IX, XI question papers

CISCE to prepare Std IX, XI question papers

Pune: The Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) has decided to prepare question papers of core subjects for classes IX and XI from the academic year 2018-19 onwards to maintain uniformity in affiliated schools across India and abroad and standardise the level of teaching and learning.

The papers will be utilised by all affiliated schools internally in the annual examinations. Two sets of question papers will be prepared for each of these levels, one for hill schools to be conducted in November/December and the other for the plain schools to be conducted in February/March.

According to a notification, the step is being taken to ensure a proportionate portion of the syllabus is duly covered in each of the two-year course and that there is no overburdening of students at any one particular level. As due weightage will be given to all chapters/units in the bifurcated syllabus, this will discourage cramming.

The question papers also aim at synchronising the syllabus with the examination system and familiarising students with the pattern and format of the board examinations. The notification also states that nuances related to the implementation are being worked upon and shall be intimated to the schools once the process is over.
