Circle officer caught while accepting Rs. 20,000 bribe

Pune: A 53-year-old circle officer of Kothrud was caught red-handed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) while accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 for updating the name of a land purchaser in 7/12 land extracts.

The accused has been identified as Balkrishna Jambhale, a resident of Kothrud. According to Anti-Corruption Bureau , the complainant had sold land in Baner and had applied for addition of name of land purchaser and a certification for it. He also asked for 7/12 land extracts from the concerned talathi.

The bribe demand was verified on June 23 and a trap was laid on Tuesday. The officer was caught taking the bribe in a vehicle outside Pratik Society in Kothrud. An FIR has been registered against Jambhale with Kothrud police station under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
