Chinchwad police nab bike thieves, burglars

Pune: Two youths were arrested by the Chinchwad police on Sunday for stealing bikes. The police have recovered nine motorcycles worth Rs 3,40,000 from them.

The accused have been identified as Mohammad Chowdhary (21) and Naushad Akbarali (19), both residents of Chikhli. The duo used to steal bikes in Chinchwad, Pimpri and MIDC Bhosari.

According to information provided by the Chinchwad police, the accused were arrested from Walhekar Wadi during a patrolling round and have confessed to their crimes.

Satish Kamble, Assistant Police Inspector, Chinchwad police station, said, “While patrolling in the area, we observed that two boys were speeding away on a bike recklessly. We found their movement suspicious and so followed and stopped them. When we questioned them about the bike, they started giving us unreasonable answers and then admitted to their act of crime during further interrogation.” The duo have been booked under section 379 (Punishment for snatching) of Indian Penal Code.

Burglars arrested
The Chinchwad police have also arrested three burglars on Monday for breaking and entering ten houses in Pimpri, Nigdi, Chakan and Bhosari.
The accused have been identified as Suesh Jadhav (27), Sagar Bhadakwad (23) - both residents of Chinchwad  and Avinash Mohite (27), a resident of Sadar.  The trio have also stolen two bikes in the past from Chinchwad and Bhosari. Police have recovered stolen goods worth Rs 3.87 lakh from the trio.
