Chaos in PCMC GB meet over Ring Road
Kalje said he was not working under any one’s pressure and the opposition should not try to teach him how the House should be run. Amidst the chaos, the mayor announced that a proposal was approved by the General Body
Pimpri: The issue of ring road-affected people rocked the General Body (GB) meeting of Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) on Thursday. Amidst the chaotic allegations and counter-allegation between ruling BJP and the opposition NCP, the House was adjourned by the mayor.
The Leader of Opposition Yogesh Behl and former mayor Mangala Kadam insisted on discussion of the issue as affected people are facing demolition notices, at the beginning of the meeting. But Mayor Nitin Kalje said the issue will be discussed after the proceedings of listed proposals on the agenda. Behl and Kadam alleged that the mayor is working under pressure from other leaders.
Kalje said he was not working under any one’s pressure and the opposition should not try to teach him how the House should be run. Amidst the chaos, the mayor announced that a proposal was approved by the General Body.
The opposition objected saying that the House was not being run as per set rules.
In response, Kalje said, “I am fully aware of the rules of the House.”
BJP’s Mai Dhore and Seema Savale tried to defend the mayor which resulted in chaos. Amidst this chaos, Mayor Kalje adjourned the House.
After the meeting, Kalje said, “We are ready to discuss the issue. But not allowing the House to function is not acceptable. We are even ready to call a special meeting to discuss the issue. But it seems the opposition is more interested in creating a stunt out of it.”
