CCC helps cybercrime victims get back `3.9 crore

Officers of the Cyber Crime Cell (CCC) of the City Police Crime Branch have been successful in refunding Rs 3.9 crore to victims of 236 debit and credit card frauds this year.

Pune: Officers of the Cyber Crime Cell (CCC) of the City Police Crime Branch have been successful in refunding Rs 3.9 crore to victims of 236 debit and credit card frauds this year.
 
As per the CCC, every day there are about 15 cases of debit and credit card fraud lodged in Pune.
 
Deputy Commissioner of Police Jyoti Priya Singh said there are two types of frauds. 
“One in which the victim shares the one-time password with the fraudster and the fraudster uses it and withdraws money from the bank account. In the other case victim’s debit card and credit card details are used in online shopping,” said Singh. 

The police said that in both cases if the victim approaches the CCC on time, the police can help the victim get refund of the money. 

The police can communicate with the bank and stop the fraud transaction.
