CCC arrests gang from Ghaziabad

Officials of the Cyber Crime Cell (CCC) of the city police Crime Branch have busted a gang involved in cheating a senior citizen to the tune of Rs 1.51 crore in an insurance fraud case.

Pune: Officials of the Cyber Crime Cell (CCC) of the city police Crime Branch have busted a gang involved in cheating a senior citizen to the tune of Rs 1.51 crore in an insurance fraud case.

The arrested accused have been identified as Sumit Sharma (31), Ankursingh Khushwah (32) and Durgesh Sharma (26). 

As per information, an 84-year-old man from Shivajinagar had recieved a call from undidentified fraudsters, who informed him that his insurance policy of 2012 has lapsed and he needs to renew the same and buy new insurance policy.

The fraudsters told the victim that he is about to get benfit of Rs 3 crore on his old policy. The victim was asked to pay money for new policy but ended up losing Rs 1.51 crore.
 
The victim then informed Cyber Crime Cell officials about the incident. Police officials said that based on technical details, the accused were arrested from Ghaziabad.
