CBEC forms GST commissionerates

The area of jurisdiction for these formations will include Pune, Shirur, Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg.

Pune: In light of the rollout of Goods and Services Tax (GST) from July 1, the Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) has notified the new GST formations. The existing Central Excise and Service Tax departments have been transformed into Central GST department.

The chief commissioner, Central GST Pune Zone, has issued two trade notices stating that the Pune Zone has been structured into four Executive Commissionerates including Kolhapur and Goa, two Audit  commissionerates and three Appeals commissionerates.

The area of jurisdiction for these formations will include Pune, Shirur, Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg.

The formations have come into effect from June 22, 2017 and will be fully functional from July 1, the date of implementation of GST.

In addition to this, GST Seva Kendras have been established at ICE House, Sassoon Road and various range offices across the jurisdiction of Pune Zone in order to guide or provide any clarifications to traders in case they face any difficulties with regard to GST.
