Cabbie stalks, abuses techie for two days

Pune: A 30-year-old woman techie was allegedly stalked and verbally abused for two days by the driver of an Ola cab, which she had hired to her reach office in Bavdhan.

Based on her complaint, an FIR has been registered against the driver at Chandan Nagar police station. Police have identified the accused as Kishor Apparao Yamgar, a native of Mira-Bhayandar in Thane, who worked here as a cab driver.

Pune: A 30-year-old woman techie was allegedly stalked and verbally abused for two days by the driver of an Ola cab, which she had hired to her reach office in Bavdhan.

Based on her complaint, an FIR has been registered against the driver at Chandan Nagar police station. Police have identified the accused as Kishor Apparao Yamgar, a native of Mira-Bhayandar in Thane, who worked here as a cab driver.

According to the police, the incident took place on August 4 when the woman booked the cab to go to work at around 11.30 am. Soon after she boarded the cab in Vadgaonsheri, the accused started misbehaving with her. He was using obscene language and gestures while trying to talk to her. She got the cab to stop midway and left it. However, the driver had got her number and called her several times for the next two days.

Police Sub Inspector JD Khalane, who is investigating the case, said, “We have booked the accused for offences under 354D (stalking), 507 (criminal intimidation by anonymous communication) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code. Investigations are on to nab him.”
