Bystander prevents duping of sr citizen

Pune: Officials of Khadak police nabbed two persons involved in trying to cheat a woman senior citizen on the pretext of exchanging gold ornaments with gold biscuits near Mandai on Thursday. 

The accused include Dilip Jadhav (48) of Latur and a minor. Police Sub Inspector Sanjay Gaikwad said cops received information from one Amit Pawar about two persons trying to cheat a 78-year-old woman. Accordingly, they took details of the suspects, who  were then traced by policemen Vinod Jadhav and Ravi Lokhande in Ravivar Peth.

“The suspects told the woman to buy gold biscuits for Rs 50,000. The elderly woman told the suspects that she has only Rs 500, on which the suspects told her to exchange the gold biscuits with her ornaments. The woman refused to do so but the accused took Rs 500 from the woman. The incident was noticed by Amit, who in turn alerted the police,” added Gaikwad.

The police said that the gold biscuits with the suspects were fake. The investigation team also included Police Sub Inspector Anant Vyavhare and policemen Bashir Sayyed and Aniket Babar.
